Tonight we will break in our studies in 1 John to look at what the Bible teches about giving.

We’re going to look at God’s plan for giving and dealing with the subject of money. Money is a good barometer on spirituality, because the way you handle your money is an indication of your Christian stewardship of life. The stewardship of money is a critical area of life. The Bible has much to say about it. In fact, we’re going to look at God’s plan for giving in the Old Testament this week, and next week, His plan for giving in the New Testament. We’re going to find out that there is no difference.

I do not normally preach about money unless the Bible text dictates it. But the Christian is faced with many decisions regarding money and there is a lot of misinformation. Basically, money decisions and the total stewardship of money fall into four categories: how we feel about money, how we earn money, how we spend money and how we give money.
