The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Doug Wilson of TLC's Trading Spaces.

Doug Wilson is a farm boy native of Broadlands Illinois. As an actor and performer Wilson graced the local professional and community stages during high school and The University of Illinois while also working weekends and summers with an interior designer and silkscreen lithograph artist. He then made his way to New York City to study at The National Shakespeare Conservatory. During his early New York acting career Wilson started his own business called HANDY MAN CAN and was soon entering New York’s posh residences including the restoration of Brook Astor’s famed Rad Lacquer Library by the esteemed firm Parish Hadley as well as maintaining Michael Bloomberg’s properties for Jamie Drake. His early business grew from top-rated handy man into construction and decorative painting finishes which introduced him to the design world.

Recognition in design media and the The New York Times exposed him to television production companies and landed him on the hit show TRADING SPACES as an interior designer. Wilson became a household name across America and was soon given two more shows, AMERICAS UGLIEST and MOVING UP on TLC in addition to special series MAKING IT HOME GREENSBURG among others.

Design magazines for years have covered his high-end decorating style in Elle DecorStyleMetropolitan Home, to name a few. Wilson has been named as one of America’s Top 100 Designers by House Beautiful.Wilson has also appeared on such shows including THE TODAY SHOW, CNN, FOX NEWS, RACHAEL RAY, THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART and iconic celebrity game show THE HOLLYWOOD SQUARES among others.
