Jaina Lee Ortiz Of ABC's Station 19

Today on The Neil Haley Show, The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Jaina Lee Ortiz Of ABC's Station 19.

Jaina Lee Ortiz has been tapped as the lead of ABC's upcoming "Station 19" from Shonda Rhimes. The 10-episode series will follow a group of heroic firefighters, and her character will be introduced in an episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Over the past two years, Ortiz starred on the Fox series Rosewood opposite Morris Chestnut. A relative newcomer, GQ and the New York Times selected her as one of the fresh faces to watch in 2015. Prior to Rosewood, she was one of the leads in the Amazon pilot The After, directed by Chris Carter. She was most recently seen on the USA drama Shooter alongside Ryan Phillippe.

Ortiz was introduced to acting through student films at the age of 16 and studied under Maggie Flanigan in New York a few years later. After completing her two years of Meisner training, Ortiz moved out of the Bronx to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.

As a kid, Ortiz learned how to salsa which turned into a professional dance career that led to her touring internationally as an instructor and performer.

Ortiz was born in Monterey, California, and grew up in the Bronx. She is the only child of first-generation Puerto Rican parents and resides in Los Angeles.
