Atlantic 10 Conference Legend Jim McCoy

The Total Tutor Neil Haley and Coach Karen Hall will interview Atlantic 10 Conference Legend Jim McCoy.

A guard from Pittsburgh, Pa., and the centerpiece of John Calipari’s first UMass teams, McCoy scored 2,374 points and led his team to the 1992 NCAA Sweet 16.

• Led UMass in scoring in each of his four years.
• Atlantic 10 First Team as a sophomore, junior, and senior. Third Team as a freshman. (McCoy was first Minuteman to be named to A-10 First Team.)
• Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Year in 1988-89, and also part of the A-10 Freshman Team.
• Near the top of the Atlantic 10 scoring list each year: third as a freshman, fourth as a sophomore, third as a junior, seventh as a senior.
• Member of the A-10 Tournament's All-Championship Team as a sophomore and senior.
• A-10 Player of the Week five times (3x junior, 2x sophomore). Freshman of the Week four times in 1988-89.

• As much as he scored, took only 57 3-point shots during his final three seasons.
• Inducted into the UMass Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002.
• Named to the 1990s All-Decade team during the 100 Seasons of UMass Basketball celebration.
• Earned his degree in 1997.
