The Veterans Administration will tell you that the majority of disability claims are denied because they are not fully developed.  The Department of Veteran Affairs also has an error rate of 14%. The Inspector General reported that the San Diego office had a 53% error rate and the Los Angeles office (the largest group of veterans in the U.S lives in Los Angeles County) made mistakes on a whopping 71% percent of its claims.

There are three (3) things that must be understood in order to make the VA pay.

What governs the decisions of the VA?  There are rules that the VA are required to abide by.  When the veterans don’t know these rules then they can’t know how a case is to be fully developed.

Where and how to acquire the information the VA needs.  There is certain information the VA needs in order to approve your case.  The claimant must understand where to gather this information and how to organize it.

How to speak judiciously to the VA.  You must use the VA jargon when presenting your case.  If you cannot speak their language, no matter how emotional or right you may be, you will be denied.

Walter Pinkney has been a guest on radio and TV in Houston, Austin and San Antonio. He has also been a guest on Veterans Talk with Jim Lytner in Las Vegas, NV and Warrior Outreach Internet Radio with Kristina Brand in Oshkosh, WI.

Walter Pinkney is a 1980s era Air Force veteran who was discharged due to service related heart problems.  He battled with the VA for 31 years before declaring victory.  His present mission is helping others navigate the VA bureaucracy.
