Lance Loya has a passion for teaching people to be good teammates! He is the author of two books—the popular children’s book Be A Good Teammate and the newly released Building Good Teammates. Although Loya has spent most of his coaching career at the collegiate level, he has worked with players at nearly every level of basketball. His youth basketball camps are some of the nation’s largest and attended by several hundred players every summer, popular with aspiring players becasue of the emphasis on teamwork. Campers are reminded daily that good teammates care, good teammates share, and good teammates listen™.

A former point guard at Garrett Community College and the University of South Carolina-Upstate, Loya garnered a reputation for being a “coach” on the court and true student of the game. As a player, he earned Academic All-American honors, and went on to earn a Masters degree in sports management. He is presently the all-time most winning basketball coach in Mount Aloysius College history. Though innovative in his coaching techniques, Loya's philosophies are still deeply grounded in a strict adherence to fundamentals, discipline, and good sportsmanship, which he instills in players. Loya is two-time recipient of the Schoenfeld Award for sportsmanship, character, and ethics, presented by the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association (CBOA). His players have also been recognized for espousing these same values, Loya was a radio morning show disc jockey. His public speaking skills have allowed him to become a sought-after speaker at schools, banquets, and various other corporate and civic functions.
