Debra Yates is the author of Woman of Many Names, is about her ssixth-great-grandmother, Nancy Ward, who had ties to Daniel Boone and George Washington, including having saved the latter’s life (and, it’s believed, vice versa) – yet she’s not in the history books!  A role model akin to Joan of Arc, for young girls, Ward has been memorialized in Benton, Tennessee, by a federal historical marker.  Known (among other names) (hence the title of the book) as Nanyehi, she also foretold one of the great American tragedies, the Trail of Tears.
