Sharon Schlesinger was diagnosed with both breast and cervical cancer over twenty-eight years ago, in the dark ages, before the internet, social media, and the entry of Susan G. Komen on the national stage. Her cancer was caught at an early stage, and she was lucky enough not to experience a recurrence or a more advanced stage, even though the fear remained long after everyone else decided she was cancer free. That’s the funny thing about any kind of cancer. You are never ‘free’ again. From a senior vice-president on Wall Street to small business owner, to novelist, her passion to advocate, educate and raise funds for women’s health issues is close to a full time job. Currently she focuses on creating support and awareness for the issues associated with metastatic breast cancer.

Los Angeles, CA… Susan G. Komen’s 6th Annual Metastatic Breast Cancer Conference, “from the Laboratory to Life: A Collaborative Care Model,” will be held on November 17 @ City of Hope from 9 AM to 5 PM.
