Good morning! Today, on The Meter, we will cover the latest in the attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists early Saturday morning. Hamas militants invaded Southern Israel after breaching several points of the Gaza border wall, raiding border villages, killing at least 600, and taking dozens hostage. The captured Israelis include soldiers, elderly, women, and children. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel is at war! The surprise attack has been the worst since the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Israel has responded with air strikes in Gaza City and ground forces in the border area. At this moment, Israeli tanks and troops are gathering, ready to invade the Gaza Strip. Fingers are pointed at Iran as the culprits, Joe Biden, for releasing $6B to that country and even the Israeli Defense planners for being caught off guard. The risk of escalation of the conflict seems certain. The Biden administration has pledged total support for Israel. How will the conflict affect world stability? Back at home, an unprecedented event occurred in the US Congress as Kevin McCarthy was ousted as Speaker of the House. The vote that removed McCarthy followed a firey speech given by FL Represenive Matt Goetz. Goetz said McCarthy had failed in his role, and it was time for new leadership. McCarthy will not enter the field to be reconsidered for Speaker. Does the move show strength or weakness in the Republican Party? Also, in New York, Donald Trump was in court this week with the judge gaining cheek to cheek and the NY Attorney General Letitia James attempting to stare down the former president and current Republican front-runner for president with a scowl. The charge in the civil case is that Trump inflated his real estate values to receive favorable loans and rates. Did the complete focus on Trump lead to intelligence failures in Israel?
