After weeks of race based fear mongering ads, the Chicago Mayoral election in which Brandon Johnson, a black man, and Paul Vallas, a white man, went head to head in a fight to lead the city, is over. The voters chose Brandon Jonnson. His support was multi ethnic, multi racial, and multi generational. Many young whites supported his candidacy. For a young generation that grew up with eight years of Barack Obama, a black man in a government leadership position is nothing strange. Is the politics of race finally over?
