Who remembers the old days when your parents and teachers taught you that a policeman was the big friendly guy who you could call on to help you? Who remembers "Officer Friendly" the policeman that visited your First Grade classroom and talked about safety? Who remembers the Officer Friendly coloring books? We'll, from Rodney King to George Floyd and every case in between, that "friendly" image has been smashed to pieces. If there is any group that needs a good PR campaign, particularly among black people, it's the police. Our guest today, Bishop Jerome Powell, head of Beacon Light Ministries, is giving the officers of Chicago's South Side Fifth District an opportunity to build better community relations by participating in this weekend's food giveaway. Bishop Powell said, "We're bringing Officer Friendly back to the community. The police will hand out food in the lot behind the 5th District Headquarters on 111th Street, Sunday March 28, from 10am to 12 noon." Officers will meet and greet residents as they hand out food
