During the Men Only discussion Wednesday, January 13, panelists expressed regret over their divorce and the changed relationship with children. Bitterness and anger costs us money, because we have to pay lawyers to negotiate a basic decision to end a union. Why? When two people who had an intimate romantic relationship that they believed would be exclusive realize their relationship has changed, can they peacefully choose to part. When two people who lived together, had children together and merged with each others families must part ways, it is painful for all involved. Can we create guidelines for divorce that make it a compassionate process that is sensitive to the feelings of all involved, especially the children? How important is the financial agreement that must be made for child support after a divorce? Can it be done without conflict?
