Prison is the extention of the American slave system, made legal by the 13th Amendment that says a person may not be forced into free labor UNLESS having been duly convicted of a crime. This loophole leaves the door open for the very profitable prison industrial complex which receives government money to feed, clothe, and keep in a state of confinement men and women convicted of crimes. In prison, men and women may be forced to perform work for free, hence, the continuation of slavery. With strategic planning, we can subvert this system, first by owning the prisons and converting them to the centers for learning and personal development they need to be; second by developing the inner self discipline and ethical standards of behavior that prevent us from committing crimes and ending up going there.
