Wendelin "Wendi's City" DeLoach, Esq.: Can Verbal Abuse Be A Sign of Unfitness?

Connie says her man Dennis is wonderful at sharing money, taking her nice places, buying her things. They are talking about marriage. But he has a temper and tends to snap at her in a way that is hurtful. Sexual intimacy seems to calm him down, but lately Connie is feeling like their intimacy is her payment for kind words and decent treatment. All other times he is critical, harsh in tone, fault finding, and raises his voice whenever she attempts to explain herself. "He's only nice to me during sex," she confesses. When she tries to talk to him about his verbal abuse, he dismisses the idea, telling her she is too emotional, too sensitive, and she needs to toughen up and grow up.  Connie is tired of having her feelings hurt by Dennis.  Is this a sign Dennis is unfit for marriage?
