Janine came into Fred’s life while Fred was raising his son, who was twelve when he and Janine started dating. He and his son’s mother never married, she struggled with substance abuse when their son was younger, so Fred obtained full custody. Four years later, Fred and Janine are newly wed, but Janine was not prepared for the sudden sour attitude of Fred’s now16 year old son. Fred seems to not be willing to check his teenager, who Janine feels is using Fred’s guilt over not staying with his mother to get away with not helping around the house, half doing school work and rudely ignoring Janine.
