Fourteen Candidates for Mayor of Chicago battled it out on Election Day and when the dust settled, two emerged from the pack and will face each other in an April 2, 2019 runoff. Lori Lightfoot finished in first place, with Toni Preckwinkle following in a close second. Either Lori Lightfoot or Toni Preckwinkle will make history as Chicago’s first African American Female Mayor. Only anestimated 17% of the voters went to the polls. What happened to the rest of the voting population? We’re they too discouraged? Where were the Millennials, who could have swayed the election in another direction?Today we’ll analyze the results and what this could mean for the city of Chicago.
