Violence is often a common expression of anger, frustration and even fear. But is it a healthy mental state or is it a manifestation of mental illness? There is funding for treatment of mental illness, and if violence were to be reclassified as a mental illness, people could get the help they need rather than to be punished for being sick. Could legislation defining violence as mental illness transform our society from being punishment-driven to being healing-driven?
