Treasure Your Thoughts: How Do We Stop Gun Violence? The Aurora Tragedy

Gun violence is a plague that has destroyed the peace in families and communities for far too long. Often it emerges suddenly and unexpectedly, as the result of uncontrolled anger, in which someone who happens to own a firearm chooses to take the lives of others without thought of the later consequences.  No matter how great the punishment, shattered lives cannot be put back together. How can we prevent gun violence, in a society that insists on arming everyday citizens? Do we need to change the laws? Are we willing to make a radical decision in order to protect innocent people from tragic loss of life? Today we take a close look at a mass shooting in Aurora by a disgruntled factory ex-employee who killed five employees and wounded 5 police officers while on a rampage of rage. We’ll also discuss a recent tragedy in Chicago, Cordero Weathers, campaign worker for Traci Terasure Johnson, was shot 12 times by a masked gunman while working to promote her campaign for 24t Ward Alderman.
