Many men and women grew up without fathers in their homes and rarely even in their lives, to give crucial guidance about relationships. Marriages today are based on trial and error and after too many trials and too many errors, adults are too emotionally scarred to form healthy, lasting relationships because the element of trust has been destroyed. Either they mistakenly chose someone who was incompatible from the beginning but perhaps looked good or held a prestigious job; or they chose someone who had some destructive habit that they simply could not or would not get rid of (drinking, gambling, doing drugs, infidelity). What if we had fathers who gave wisdom about selecting mates? That important male perspective is often missing in the lives of sons and daughters, who make choices based on criteria that has little or nothing to do with compatibility and commitment to a future together. What do YOU wish your father had told you about marriage and family?
