Diversity: How Do We Help Our Children Flourish Among Different Cultures?

American segregation has rendered many African American youth ill prepared to function in a diverse world, and when high school graduates inter colleges attended by young people from around the world, they may feel overwhelmed. Other countries are preparing their youth to operate in a multicultural, multilingual society, and for some reason, despite access to the Internet, too many public schools in African American communities are not providing the global experiences that will prepare our youth to thrive in a world of diversity.  Today's guest Lavinia Weisser, an African American living and teaching in China, shares her experiences from the perspective of living outside of America, and what impact history, language and cultural values have on the building of strong families and communities.
