The flood waters rising in Houston Texas have left homes destroyed and families displaced as they fight desperately to survive amidst this natural disaster. Times like these can bring out the best in people - bravery, heroism, self sacrifice. This is what is needed to reach out to those who have lost everything and are barely clinging to life. How can we all help in the life saving efforts after a natural disaster? How do we deal with animals locked in cages in zoos, or people locked behind prison bars? Those confined have to be let out during a fire or flood, so where can they go? Should we think of alternatives to jailing people or imprisoning animals? How do we make sure help is distributed fairly and not just to the wealthy and privileged? Do we need more humanitarian organizations besides the Red Cross? Today another humanitarian organization shares what the experience has been like to rush to the aid of disaster survivors in Texas.
