Father's Day Message: REAL MEN MARRY

The fatherless epidemic in the African American community has its roots in the slave experience with the practice of breeding slaves, using black men as "studs." Decades after Emancipation, black families slowly pulled together a culture of respect for marriage and family, reinforced by African American religious institutions. But, the irresponsible attitude toward family was reinstituted with the welfare system that literally paid women to put the men out of the house. Generations later, our communities are in shambles, and too many old men are encouraging young men to misuse and exploit girls for sex, producing babies that grow into angry, violent young men that terrorize our communities, This has got to stop! This Father's Day we are launching a national campaign to reinstitute values of marriage and family in men, with a campaign promoted by the slogan REAL MEN MARRY. Weekly videos, commercials, billboards and bumper stickers will drive home the idea that the violence in our communities is fueled by the absence of family values in the men whose intention is to use women for sex and leave, like back in the slave days. Statistics show that 85% of youth who end up in jail come from fatherless homes. Jail is the continuation of the slave system. Men who misuse women for sex are making slaves, just like the plantation studs during slavery days. We must break free of this degenerate behavior! Older men must stop encouraging young men to exploit women for sport! REAL MEN MARRY! We're calling on all men of faith to join this effort!
