Who are these nameless, faceless people terrorizing our communities? We hear horror stories of daily shootings, young men being gunned down in the prime of their lives, families torn apart by tragedy, and yet no one knows who is responsible for these destructive acts. "Gangbangers." Who are they? Families that exist from money made through drug sales and petty thefts create an environment of crime that keeps communities unsafe. We say jobs would get rid of crime, but the people we depend on to create jobs are no more intelligent or powerful than we are, so why are we looking outside rather than inside of our own communities for the solution?  When Pookie who has no job supplies Naynay with enough money to keep her in weave and fake nails, no one asks where the money comes from. When Pookie gets shot, Naynay, Big Mama and everybody is devastated, but how come we don't have block clubs where all the parents know all the children and everybody is working in some kind of legitimate business that everybody spends their money with? We have to choose to end this cycle of broken families, violence and jail, and stop accepting our fate as inevitable. This is a math problem: How many dead children does it take for women to choose to come together as mothers and look out for each other's children? How do we convert "gangbangers" into good citizens
