Parents often want to help their children through life's challenges, but when is it time to let go and let your children learn how to solve their own problems? This is graduation season and our eighth graders, high schoolers, and college students are taking a step forward into adulthood. How much should we get involved in their lives at each stage of development? Do you help an eighth grader pick a high school? Do you help a high school graduate pick a college? Do you help your college graduate find a job? Do you get involved in their personal relationship issues at any age? Do you help your adult child deal with a marriage crisis? When is it time to back off and butt out as a parent?
