Should Muslims Be Required To Carry IDs To Keep U.S. Safe From Terrorism?

The threat of foreign terrorism is raising the level of hysteria in many Americans, and Presidential candidate Donald Trump has capitized on the fears by suggesting all Muslims carry IDs, as if terrorism is synonimous with Islam. But too many Americans are still reeling over the 911 attacks, and have not understood foreign policy issues that affect other countries and create hostility toward the U.S.  Is there a danger that Congress could pass such a descriminatory law against one religious group? How would that affect families of Muslim immigrants? How would that affect American converts to Islam? How would it affect international relations?What should happen to dispel the divisive rhetoric that feeds the fear? What are the real issues abroad that are fueling the terrorist movement?
