This week marks the 50th Anniversary of the signing of hte Voting rights bill, which literally transformed America by giving African Americans, who had previously been denied the right to vote in many southern states, the power to elect representatives where they live. How has voting rights changed public policy? Have we elected officials that have the skills to introduce laws that correct conditions where we live? Do we known what skills and experiences a person should have in order to be a good elected government representative? Have our representatives served us well or sold us out? How many jobs have blacks secured as a result of having access to government positions? Has anybody been able to introduce enforceable laws to stop this violent police backlash against African American citizens? How have our elected officials dealt with racism and helped eradicate it?  Civil Rights Activist Yesse Yehuda examines the political and economic progress that resulted from the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.
