Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy have changed. We think you'll like them better this way.
Many of us grew up with extreme criticism from our parents who unknowingly were destroying our self esteem. They wrongly believed that criticism would make us strive harder to be better. They thought that calling us stupid, lazy, forgetful, hardheaded, and other bad names would make us strive harder to be smart, hard working, mentally sharp, willing to learn, and all the other attributes they wanted to instill in us. They didn't know that they were making us feel badly about ourselves. They also didn't know they were training us to destroy the self esteem in our mates and our children by imitating the same insulting, demeaning behavior toward the people we love that we received while growing up. Many of us need to unlearn the habit of saying negative things to our mates when we want positive behavior from them. Today we'll learn how to say the loving things that can help build our mate's self esteem, and encourage our mates to do the same for us.
