Who is the ultimate authority in your child's life? You may think it's you, the parent. But for women like Dorothy Austin, the discovery that the State has more power than the parent was a horrifying discovery. When her son Shamir was hit on the head by a public school teacher, he suffered seizures as a result of his injuries. Naturally, Mrs. Austin filed a lawsuit against the Board of Education for allowing such an assault upon her son.
