Actress, Director and Author T'Keyah Crystal Keymah is galvanizing residents in Chicago to register and vote by celebrating the legacy of Mayor Harold Washington, Chicago's first African American, with a March on Saturday, October 4, 2014.   Mayor Washington, whose 1983 victory is said to be the catalyst for election victories across the nation, won by insisting that community organizers register 100,000 new voters and raise $1million for his campaign fund before he would consent to leave his comfortable position in the U.S. Congress and run for Mayor of Chicago. T'Keyah Crystal Keymah, best known for her acting work on television's In Living Color, Cosby and That's So Raven, is also a film an stage actress, writer, director and producer and is author of the book Natural Woman/Natural Hair.  Today she is wearing the hat of community activist and organizer, urging voters to remember the successful 1983 voter registration campaign slogan of "Come Alive October 5" by participating in a 6K walk from Washington Park in Hyde Park to Bethel AME Church at 4440 S. Michigan where an invigorating rally will kick off a 30 day drive to energize voters up until Election Day November 4, 2014. This is an opportunity for voters to select candidates in city state and federal offices. T'Keyah will also discuss her book Natural Woman, Natual Hair, and her involvement in helping girls and young women develop healthy self esteem.
