Can The Ferguson Missouri Protests Bring Justice For The Death Of Michael Brown?

The August 9, 2014 shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri has ignited rage among citizens who have taken to the streets in protest that police refuse to release the name of the officer who witnesses believe should be charged with murder. Michael Brown, an unarmed African American college bound teenager was gunned down by a white officer even though his hands were raised in surrender and he stated that he was unarmed. President Obama had sharp words for the over-militarized police force in Missouri who used tear gas against peaceful protest marchers and arrested journalists who were attempting to cover the events in the aftermath of the killing.  Will the protests escalate into violence that results in another police killing? Will the protest spread to other cities if the officer is not charged with a crime? Are other cities with issues of killings as a result of excessive police force just powder kegs waiting to explode? Or will this incident help the nation to address its long held double standard of justice when it comes to whites killing blacks? What would be a just conclusion to this incident? Zaki Baruti, head of the Universal African Peoples Organization and former candidate for Missouri Governor was a major organizer of the protest marches in Ferguson.
