Many people believe they are trapped in poverty because once thriving businesses have moved out of their community. They are demanding that their elected officials "do something" to provide "jobs." But what they don't realize is that a "job" is not a constitutional right. It is a decision by a business owner to pay another person to help t in the delivery of whatever product or service the business owner is selling.  So, if you want a "job" answer the questions, "Who is selling something and needs my help in order to sell more? What skills do they need that I can provide?"  Forget about, "They should hire more Blacks, more women, more whatever. It's not about you, it's about them and what they need to sell more of whatever they are selling to make a living for themselves. This is what capitalism is all about. Selling. Vincent Gilbert, an organizer of a very successful Illinois Job Fair held recently, shares some tips for those seeking employment. No matter what the economy, everybody needs to earn a living, and for those who are in business, they need people to work with them and help them sell more of their product or service.  How much they sell determines how much profit they have to pay others to help them to continue to sell more. What do you need to do to convince business owners that you are the person they should pay to help them? Earning a living is each person's responsibility. Warren Houston of Know Thyself Radio, explains how wrong beliefs about business and government "owing" people jobs keeps individuals trapped in a state of poverty and dependency, rather than taking the initiative to create their own economic opportunities.
