Have Women given Up On Getting Married BEFORE Getting Pregnant?

Has single motherhood become the new norm? Statistics show that out-of-wedlock births are linked to poverty. The Census Bureau' reports that in 2011 Washington DC had the highest rate of out of wedlock births, 50.3%, and Utah had the lowest, 14.7%. Most major cities where poverty rates are high, so are the percentages of out of wedlock births. Families follow a predictable pattern: couples get together, the man can't find a job that supports both him and his family, the couple chooses to be sexually intimate, the woman gets pregnant, the woman gets public assistance and the couple decides they can't afford to get married because the man can't earn as much money as the woman gets paid from Public Aid. Simply cutting Welfare is not the answer.  We have collectively created a society of unatttached families, and all parties involved are responsible. Government officials that choose to pay a woman to stay unmarried rather than to pay men for education, skill training and employment on those jobs that need to done; Men who have chosen to be sexually intimate with women with whom they are unsure they want to remain attached to as husbands; and women who have accepted the idea that sex can come before marriage or even without the intention of marriage as long as somebody uses "protection." Has the "sexual revolution" really been in the best interest of women? Or have we created a culture that leaves us hanging out there alone after we get pregnant? Is single motherhood the new norm? How can we reverse the trend? Should we even try to?
