What Hidden Message is In This Year's Popular Movies?

Every year the Academy Awards reflect a political climate in America. The movies that win are often a social statement of how those who affect the culture want the culture to go. Just as Sidney Poitier won Best Actor in 1964 for Lillies of the Field during the turbulent Civil Rights Protest Era as a statement of racial tolerance, and Broke Back Mountain won as Best Picture in 2005 as a statement of acceptance of the homosexual community, film audiences are looking at this year's nominations and wondering what socio-political statement will be made in 2014. Last year, Christoph Waltz, the white actor who sacrificed his life to save a black man, Jamie Foxx, in the film Django received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Did this perhaps diffuse the growing rage in the African American community towards white government officials who attempted to obstruct President Obama's health care program?  What racial statement will be made if films such as "Twelve Years A Slave" or "The Butler" win Oscars?
