A child feels the impact of affection from parents from birth, and indeed, even before. birth, and when parents are distant and unaffectionate, it has a negative impact on the child's self esteem. A simple hug has so much value, it boosts the immune system, builds a bond of trust, and reinforces feelings of well being and acceptance. How do we unlearn distructive parenting styles that encourage verbal and physical abuse as a way to enforce "discipline"?
