Have Police Falsified Evidence To Convict Innocent People?

Three young men convicted of murder in Rockford Illinois and serving time in prison since 2002 have been recently released from prison, after the head police detective in the case, Douglas Palmer, admitted to falsifying the evidence used to convict them. Winnebago County Judge McGraw overturned the convictions of Terrence Anderson, Lamont Johnson and Anthony Ross, and while they await a new trial to enable them to prove their innocence, States Attorney Joseph Bruscato is seeking to overturn the judge's decision and send them back to jail. With an audio tape of the key witness admitting he lied about witnessing the crime and all the other witnesses recanting their testimony, saying they had been coerced by police to testify, there appears to be no evidence against the three convicted men. So why is the State insisting on sending them back to jail? How many more are serving time in prison as a result of false evidence against them?
