When our parents get older, suddenly we find that the roles of parent and child are reversed - we are the caregivers and they are the helpless ones that need constant attention.  In other cultures it is understood that children will one day take care of elders, but in American society, many children prefer to hire professional caregivers or place parents in nursing homes. Are we being selfish for not personally taking care of our parents? Are we neglecting our elderly? Or do our careers, lifestyles and financial obligations simply make it impossible to be full time caregivers to our parents? Is a professional caregiver what you prefer for your parent?  Jacques LeBlanc of LeBlanc Caregivers Agency, Inc. discusses the professional homecare business and how our changing culture creates the need for outside help with aging parents.
