A dedicated Christian who has been deeply involved in the faith community for many years, Su Elliott founded the meetup group "Portland Christians with Questions" (http://www.meetup.com/Portland-Christians-with-Questions/) in January 2010 to give evangelical Christians an opportunity to explore challenging doctrinal questions in a supportive, non-judgmental setting. This group is very specifically "not anti-Christian" and designed for people "who are deeply committed to Christ, but can't stop asking questions that they are afraid to ask in church or are not satisfied with the answers they get". The group is not hesitant to take on questions such as "Is the Bible still to be taken literally in all ways and all days? If it's not, then how do we deal with the Pandora's box that opens for us?" A composer, artist, director, writer, vocal arranger and playwright, Su Elliott spent 13 years singing, directing and composing for the "Desperate Measures" Christian music and comedy troupe, with songs taking on some delicate, challenging topics within conservative Christianity (http://su-elliott.co.cc/csn.html). In what promises to be a unique dialogue addressing topics rarely discussed, Susan Larison Danz and Su Elliott will openly and honestly discuss deep philosophical questions faced by many evangelicals and ex-evangelicals.
