Putting your good clothes used to be a thing. A real thing. There was always something that we were required to dress up for and we had to be ready to smile too. Family portraits at Sears. Class photos at school for all of the lower grades, starting at kindergarten. A party of any kind. Birthday, wedding, graduation, etc.. it didn't matter what the occasion was, you put your good clothes on. There was church. We would put on a suit just to go look for a job, even if the job didn't require a suit to work in. We were brought up to dress to impress. We were taught that 1st impressions meant a lot and they did. Dressing up got us into places where we would not be allowed into had we been dressed any other kind of way. What happened to dressing up? What has happened to it? Has it disappeared or has it taken on a new identity? What have been some of the influences that have disguised it? Let's talk.
