Some people are more concerned with personality, finances, family ties, affection, future prospects, love, loyalty, decency, education, intelligence and other redeeming qualities that don't have anything to do with looks. That's not to say that people who aren't good-looking always have those qualities and people who are better looking don't, but those qualities might be what some might substitute for not being able to stomach the Prom Queen.
