What is your opinion of Black children who go to boarding schools for education and group homes for discipline? Is there a correlation between the 2? Do the 2 situations have the same home conditions that send the kids to either one? Most of the people who were around in the 70's remember watching Facts of Life which was a boarding school for girls and Tootie (Kim Fields) was the only Black girl on the show and the only Black girl that went to the school. Was that indicative of real life situations regarding Blacks and boarding schools? There are plenty of Black children who attend boarding schools, but what are the conditions that get them there? Is it academics that did it? Do Black people do better in situations where they are educated away from home? Dr. Umar Johnson seems to think so. We know that discipline problems are the things that land Black children in group homes, that's whether their parents approve of that, or not. Group homes can be a substitute for incarceration, or they can be an alternative to incarceration. Group homes often involve young people who have had academic problems in school. Do they do better in group homes?

That's what we're talking about today at 11 AM ET on The Daily Gogetemism Show. Check this out. https://youtu.be/8PRI1d9OUZQ
