Sometimes we just can't resist a challenge, but all challeges aren't good. They're not all worth the effort. If you're good at something then it makes sense that you would think that you could beat someone else at what you do. The problem comes when you used to be good at something but you haven't done it in a while and you try to go up against someone who doing what you used to do currently and they're in their prime.

For example, it's never a good idea to play 3 card Monty(Molly) with someone who does that for a living.

You might not try to outplay a player just because you used to be a player.

Don't try to beat a chess expert if you haven't played in a while.

Don't try to outsmart someone that is studying all the time.
