Special guest: Muslim Journal editor Ayesha K. Mustafaa, Dr. Edward Curtis IV the Professor of Religious Studies at IUPUI; and Imam Ismail Abdul-Aleem of Masjid Al Mu'mineen of Indianapolis, IN.

Since the 7th century Al-Islam has improved the lives of many societies since the 7th century. The same is true regarding Islam's contributions to the African American Consciousness.

The positive influence of Islam (properly called "Al-Islam") on the consciousness of the African American life is innumerable whether it be the strong encouragement of changing your name -- "Come out of the slave masters' names" -- or if it was the call to drastically adjust your diet; namely to stop eating pork/swine; no one can deny the great influence of Islam on the African American life.

Religiously and culturally the Islamic influence on the jazz scene in the 20th century is still shaping the musical taste of African Americans.

Black Christian theology was greatly shaped by the unrelenting accusations of Elijah Muhammad that the Christianity fed to African Americans is the white man's religion. This charge forced many African American church leaders to blacken or Africanize their Sunday sermons.
