In your mind's eye picture water in a stream flowing down hill. This water is guided by the banks of the stream, that changes the direction of the flow of the water based on the topography of the land, flowing left and right as the land dictates. If it rains, more water is added to te stream, and can cause the stream to overflow the banks and possibly do damage to the surrounding terrain. As the water in the stream flows down hill it will reach an join a slightly larger stream, and that stream may join a river, the banks of which must be larger than the stream in order to accomidate the now larger mass of water. The current can also change from fast to slow dependiing on the depth of the river or stream; a shallow stream flows faster, a deep stream flows more slowly, and this all depends on the pitch of the elevation change; steeper equals faster.

Money is the water. The flow of this money is the currency, and is directed by the banks (as a stream), that are financial institutions that guide this money from the source, the manufacturors, to the end users, the consumers. The banks absorb some of this money/water, as a fee for providing the means of directing the flow of money. 

But what if the money they are directing is not based on any kind of physical standard, such a precious metals, or in-ground commodities (i.e., consumable plants, or petroleum)? What then is this money worth? Nothing. It's value would be based soley upon the "full faith and credit" of the entity that issued that money/currency.

Truth is the currency of the Kingdom of the Heavens. Lies are the currency of the kingdom of this world. One is worth everything because it's value is based upon a standard that is like gold, the words of the author of Truth, Jesus.. The other is worth nothing, because it is based upon lying words of Satan, and an intangible 'faith' that has no value in and of itself.
