300 star Rodrigo Santoro portrays 1940s Brazilian soccer player Heleno de Freitas in Heleno. Rodrigo tells host Robin Milling how he got inside the skin of the star player who was also known for his womanizing and excessive lifestyle which ultimately led to his demise, dying of syphilis in a sanatorium. Ravaged with the disease, Rodrigo went there losing so much weight even his mother worried about him!
Living the life of a playboy on screen, Rodrigo who is half Italian, half Brazilian relates to the passion of Heleno and says by far it's the most love scenes he's ever had to do for a role. Growing up in Rio de Janiero where the sport is known as football; he also enjoyed filming the soccer scenes which reminded him of his boyhood.
