Jared Dillian, author of Street Freak A Memoir of Money and Madness joins host Robin Milling. Jared, who was a former trader at Lehman Brothers spent his first day on the job in Jersey City on 9/11 until it's final years. He tells Robin his time there was anything but rock star status; opting for Men's Warehouse suits instead of Prada and eating at his desk rather than spending hundreds of dollars at client lunches.
Jared says his competitive nature was suited to Wall Street but never imagined the difficulty from a psychological standpoint, burning out quickly before he was 40. On the other hand, Jared's battle with bipolar disorder which led to a suicide attempt, wasn't easily diagnosed as a trader's life is in essence a series of ups and downs. He candidly discusses how his time in hospital led to his career as a writer.
Jared currently writes a financial newsletter, The Daily Dirtnap www.dailydirtnap.com/ and is putting the final touches on a draft for his second novel.
