An atheist asked me once what would make me leave the Christian faith. The way that's worded indicates a set of values' suggesting Christianity is one of many sets of an adherence to a code of life. Religion is a man-made way of getting to God.  The whole of them rest on a set of values and rules. Many people have erred in making Christianity a set of do's and don'ts.

So, really, the question the atheist asked is what would make me abandon God? A believer's' faith rests on the person of the resurrected Christ. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, as the apostle Paul said, we would be the most miserable of people. For we would still be seperated from God, still bound by sin, still condenmed. If Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead, if He were still in the tomb, then we have no hope or any chance of rescue.

Thanks be God that Christ is risen and lives forevermore. Through a living God, we are forgiven. We are encompassed by a love that will never grow dull. That will remain vibrant forever. It's the reason why the apostle Paul says in Romans 12:1 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Notice the word 'living'. We don't have to die--Christ did already. Not only did He die for our sins but He rose again. Because He lives, we have power over a sinful nature. We can fight against an enemy who seeks to destroy us.
