Originally, I had planned this show to be about judgmental people -- until I saw an Newsweek article posted by a friend of mine entitled, "52 Percent of Americans Say Jesus Isn't God but Was a Great Teacher".

To say this disturbed me would be an understatement. However, even in this, it is nothing new. Two thousand years ago, people were questioning whether Jesus was God. It's like the great Christian writer C. S. Lewis said, "A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse."

The apostle Paul stated, "If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable." Why? Because "great teachers" cannot save souls. "Great teachers" are flawed, sinful, and imperfect -- something a "great teacher" would say. "Great teachers" are a dime a dozen.

The heritage of our Christian faith comes from the fact that Jesus was more than a great teacher -- He was and is and forever will be God. A great teacher cannot hear the cries of a world in the throes of depravity and say, "I will save you." A great teacher is NOT all knowing. Nor, is a great teacher all powerful or all seeing. There's so many things that a great teacher isn't that Jesus is.

We'll discuss that today with my returning guest co-host and contributor, David Waddell. You can call in at 646-668-8485 and press 1 to be live on air. Download Stitcher on your mobile device.
