Women in America have a 1 in 8 risk of getting breast cancer which equates to about 12% which means that for every 8 women, 1 will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime up to age 95. 

Some risk factors include: lifestyle such as exercise; reproduction such as age at first period; genetics such as family history; or environment, such as radiation exposure. 

Older women have a higher risk of breast cancer than younger women and women who breastfeed have a lower risk of breast cancer than women who don't.
