Listen to the Sun. Jan. 8, 2017 special edition of the Pan-African Journal: Worldwide Radio Broadcast hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. The program presents our regular PANW report with dispatches on the military mutiny in the West African state of Ivory Coast where representatives of the neo-colonial backed regime of Alassane Ouattara met with rebel soldiers in an effort to reach an agreement; South Africa's ruling party the African National Congress (ANC) is celebrating its 105th anniversary today; an editorial published in the Zimbabwe Sunday Mail has called for the eradication of factionalism within the ruling ZANU-PF ruling party; and violent attacks are continuing in the Horn of Africa nation of Somalia amid national elections to select a new parliament. In the second hour we continue our commemoration of the 88th birthday of Civil Rights and Antiwar martyr Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will focus on the events in 1963 reviewing the assassination of NAACP field secretary Medgar Evers and a rare archival interview of Dr. King by international correspondents from Ghana and India. In the final hour we hear a lecture by African American writer James Baldwin presenting his views on the struggle during 1963.
