What can we learn from politics regarding the institution of marriage

This election reflects what we often see in the relationship of marriage. One spouse or both spouses may find the need to embellish or to outright lie to do what they believe is necessary to save a weakened marriage. In America, what can we learn from politics regarding the institution of marriage? Many may say, "not a lot" and be correct. We believe, however, that like politicians spouses must find ways to compromise in the effort and attempt to save their marriages as politicians work to save America.
